What's On At Whistling Thorns?

People come to Whistling Thorns to enjoy Peace & Quiet, the Views and the Space. They come to Relax & have a Swim, Watch the Scenery and spot the Game Whilst enjoying a Drink or a Home Cooked Meal...

The Kitchen is open from 08.00hrs to 20.00hrs every day. The kitchen staff are proud to prepare excellent meals for you. In addition to the Menu look at the Notice Board for Specials! The Swimming pool is open daily from 09.00 to 18.00hrs. Use is free for clients having meals & staying overnight. The charges are 200/-. We do have costumes and towels for hire if you forgot to bring them: 50/- each.

Horse riding: (for experienced riders only! 1200/- per hour) You are being accompanied by Tanui the Syce: you have a good chance to see zebras, gazelles and perhaps giraffes. We can do Pony Rides for youngsters on request at 200/- per ride.

Walks: you can go for walks on your own in the surrounding area - this is open savannah grassland and you cant get lost. Apart from seeing gazelles & zebras you will certainly see the Masai and their cattle.

The people here are very welcoming, please respect the local community. If you would like to have a guide, Emmanuel a local Masai can accompany you on your walk. He charges 500/- and will show you round informing you of the people, and environment you are walking though. Your walk will be 2 to 3 hrs (or longer if your want.

Bird Watching: the immediate grounds of Whistling Thorns host a large variety of birds which can easily be spotted. Pampering for Total Relaxation: On request Lillian can do full body massage (1500/- per hour), manicure/pedicure (650/-) or facials.

Golf Driving Range: to Practice your Swing, or Vent your Frustration - 50/- for 20 balls, and bring your club. (Or you can hire clubs here at 100/-: breakages have to be paid for!).

Playground: there is a Playground with a Tree House and Swings for Children, and of course there is ample of open space to run around, kick a ball and play netball. On Sundays Tony and his team are here with Kiddy Cars & Playstations (200/-) to occupy the youngsters. There is a bouncing Castle (50/- per child) and Ponyrides (200/-)

Camping Site: If you bring your own equipment the charges are 400/- p.p. per night. We can also put a tent up for you and provide a mattress (you bring your bedding) and the charge is 550/- p.p. per night.

Flying: If you would like to fly over the area and Whistling Thorns, Neil can take you in a small plane for 1 hour 15000/- per flight (max. 2 people) and this includes the transfer to and from Wilson's. Please note that this needs booking as weekends are busy.
